So beautifully said Nadine.
 Often -very often I will be stopped..
 as if stopped by The Living Spirit
  to take but a moment out of such
  a busy- often crazy world -
  and just Thank God for such a man
   as Dr. Carl Bengs.
 I have missed his way in healing.
 And His listening gift he was given--- that allowed him to really feel--
--- what another person was saying.
  Can't say enough about having been so blessed to have met such a man let alone all that he did- and in many ways
  is still``doing in my life
To All that came to know
and love Dr. Carl Bengs
And for All his family members
who were so blessed to have him close.
He is ever close in the heart !
Wishing and Praying !
You All A Very Blessed
```Christmas``.
Remembering my beautiful Grandfather (more like a father) and missing him today.... 10 years ago he transitioned from this Earth. What an incredible man... more and more I see the tremendous influence he had on my life... and that I got to experience first hand what it was to be a true embodiment of the Divine Masculine in how he lived how he parented, how he doctored and served and mostly how he loved nature and God. He was a true man of God and he passed that one as one of his greatest gifts to me. I still have all the books he ever gave me, and just yesterday I found a lovely note he scribbled in the book for me. Thank you, Papa for gracing us with your love <3 Alway, Nadine
I did not know Dr. Bengs , but my uncle recently gave me his unit's army journal , Dr. Bengs was the medic assigned to his platoon . He was highly thought of by the men , he saved several of their lives , and by reading these condolences , it seems like he continued that tradition for his who life .
I grew up around Dr. Bengs. I don't think anyone else in my life has been more influential. He taught me honor, patience, Charity and most of all the joy of true friendship. I miss him and Mrs. Bengs terribly and I wish that I had more time to spend with them. I will remember them in my prayers for the rest of my life.
My dad had patients even as long as 50 years. "He is a Saint now, along with his wife, they were so giving even paid for some patients prescriptions and treated many free." These are comments I still get from people. Anne
I still talk about the amazing Dr.Bengs to this day, what a wonderful human being he was!!!. I have been doing hair for the last 30yrs. locally and I have always told people I have a doc.who belonged in the 1800's,riding in his horse and buggy to see you. When he arrived, he would visit with you, just like he did in present time, ask about your family, your job etc., and about 15 min. later or so would say, Oh bye the way, what's wrong?.God I loved that about him. One of the most caring people I have EVER met!!!, and a Doctor!!!.I knew him when I was 17,today I'm 54.My thought's to his family and friend's, the world was blessed with his kindness,smile and warmth, truly from his heart, and his laid back style, which made you ALWAYS!!! feel at home. The one Doctor we wanted to always see, not run from!!!.He showed me what being a Doc. was truly about,HEALING and CARING for people!!!, something that is truly missing in today's practice of Medicine!!!.Thank you Dr.Bengs,you were truly one of a kind,an HONOR to have known you and call you my DOCTOR!!!. May Your Spirit Soar with the Angels,I miss you. Tony Pfeifer Encinitas,Ca.
Dad was a gentleman of the old school who drew souls to God through his actions, examples of Christian Love , his morals, ethics and values! That's what being a Doctor was all about to him!
I had the honor of working with him, as well as many other family members, for about 20 years. He was handsome and proud and an excellent Doctor. One of his best jokes was: "When all the specialists examined the patient and had no answer, they sent him to the Family Doctor!"
He never retired, for after his first stoke 5 years ago he worked from his chair with Pro-life. He also lead the blood pressure clinic in his neighborhood.
Dad never once used the wheelchair to go visit my mom at the gravesight. He always stood up and walked with a little help.
Never once did he negate calling to thank me for the meals I brought to him. "Pierre (his cat) enjoyed it too." He would chuckle.
Shortly before he fell into a coma he breathlessly said he would watch over us, he then stretched out his arms to hold the Bible.
Upon his passing I happened to see the bottle of "The Pope's cologne". I picked it up and sprinkled it on him saying with a smile: "You have graduated dad!"
Dad, you were my Hero and now you are My Angel!
Until we meet again I send you all my Love,
Anne
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of such a giving and caring man. Dr. Bengs cared for my family for many years. His committment to his practice was evident and he always had time to listen to his patients, regardless of how busy he was. Our family is saddened by his passing and we take comfort in knowing he touched the lives of many, many people.
To all of his children, I am sorry for your loss.  You are his pride and joy.  He was a faithful man of God...serving his family and community.  It was a honor to work for him.  My husband Mark was a patient of his. I think of him often.
When you came to work grumpy..he would greet you with a wonderful good morning...starting the day right.
Dr Carl became my friend
and primary doctor
 after our first meeting in the early 70's.
 Our family had come to know Dr Carl  in the 60's when`
` his eye`` caught an illness` in
  our family that other doctors had failed to see.
 My younger brother was that member and I knew then
 Dr Carl took what he was called
to do on earth  (to heal the sick )
 with his God given abilities and
 fulfill Gods calling upon his life.
  Dr Carl never failed to look me straight in the eye ,
with  that all so familiar`` intense`` analytical
 once over - all over gaze-
 with a twinkle in his eye ``
 and he`` really listened !!!!! to me
   Dr Carl cared !! and he shared !!
 and he always listened which
  seems a very rare  thing these days .
   I too have a great sense of loss
  in my life after hearing of Dr Carl's
 passing over.
 However what Dr Carl gave !!!
 so that I and others
  would gain !!!....
......will forever
 live on in my life .
  Guess I could have simply said
  " I love you Dr Carl ...loved
  you then and love you now"
    God only knows how much you
 did for others here on earth.
   And what you did for me in my life
    God Bless You Dr. Carl
    May His Peace
    The Peace that passes all understanding
   find and keep your family well.
    Sincerely ,
    Ernest Way
Dr. Bengs was like an older brother and was our physician for 37 years.  He became our physician after we first moved to Carlsbad and came to our home to treat Pat as he felt she was too sick to come to the office.  We also remember the great jokes that he told whenever we came to the office with our illnesses.  He had such common sense in his treatment of illness and we will miss him.  His wife, Jean, was always such a compassionate person when she would work in the office if you came in on a Saturday (and what doctor worked on Saturdays).  We asked one time when he was going to retire and he said "never, I enjoy being a doctor!  You could always hear him coming down the hall to your room as he was always whistling - what a great humor!!  Our best wishes to his very large family and know they will all miss him.
Dr.Bengs is my father-in-law.  I married his and Jean's youngest daughter, Beth.  Through my wife, Dr. Bengs and Jean's faith as devoted Catholics, my eyes were opened to a faith I could not do with out in my heart.  I converted to Catholic a few years ago because of Dr. Mike and his family's steady devotion I was able to understand and see for myself that I needed this faith as well.
 He had some of the best jokes whenever we talked on the phone. He always had a new one for me.  Most of the time I had one for him as well and I still have  a couple I never got to tell him.
  I wish I had met him years ago during my teenage years.  He would have been a great mentor as he was to me even in the past 18 years I have known him.  The first day I met him was like meeting a friend I never knew I had. He was always available to help my family when we where of need.  His granddaughters, daughter and I will surely miss him. We will al-ways have him in our hearts and prayers.
He was the happiest guy I have ever known and now we are so lucky to have Dr. Chris to care for our health concerns. Dr. Bengs will forever live in my heart. I first met him at 23 years old when I started working for him at his Family Practice.  Immediately he opened my heart up to the amazing experience of expressing kindness, care and love to others. He was not only incredibly kind to me, I witnessed hundreds of kind, selfless acts he had done for others in the community and many were often for strangers. Wow, what a beautiful spirit. He was my biggest inspiration. He will always be that for me and my family and friends know this to be true. When I look back, Dr. Bengs' relentless encouragement was what I needed at that time in my life and I thank god for that intervention.  He showed me that we all can and should make a difference no matter how big or how small.
I find myself preaching to my little children the beauty of always having kindness in your heart when dealing with others and my thoughts always go immediately to Dr. Bengs.
I know if I feel this way towards him, he must be incredibly missed by his family and my deepest sympathies go out to all of them.
He was my grandfather, I have so many happy memories of him with me,watching football and baseball games, eating popcorn while routing for our favorite teams. Going to Barnes and Noble, Jack in the Box,the seashore, and just talking. It seemed like only yesterday I was a little boy sitting in the front of a Lincoln trying to make the light stay green by saying ' Stay green.' He will be always an inspiratin to me to do the right thing and I will always make sure that he is remembered in my house from generation to generation.
Dr. Carl Bengs delivered my sister's first and only child in 1970 and kept Dr. Bengs as her primary physcian until he retired. "What a wonderful doctor" he was and what a wonderful son he left to take over his practice. We are very saddened to hear of this great loss of yours. Our prayers go out to your family.
Hi, my mother used to see Dr. Bengs. She always talked so highly of him. I never met him, but he sounds like the last of the doctors that did home visits. It's also nice to hear that he was a devout Catholic. May he rest in peace with his wife.
