Carl Coker Obituary
Bartlett, TN
Carl A. Coker, of Bartlett, TN, went to his Heavenly home, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the age of 94. Mr. Coker graduated Jeff Davis High School in Water Valley, MS and joined the Marines where he served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Conwood Corporation in 1984 after 38 years of service. Mr. Coker was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church and former member of Georgian Hills Baptist Church.
Mr. Coker was preceded in death by his wife Joy, his daughter Sandra Coker Blackwell, his parents William and Bessie Coker, one brother Horton Coker and a sister Lottie Coker Leach. He is survived by his daughter Ginger Coker Simmons (Michael), his son Tim Coker (Vikki), six grandchildren; Justin Simmons, Nathan Simmons, Todd Blackwell, Jordan Blackwell, Steven Coker, and Rylee Coker and one step grandson Chris Dodd.
The family will receive friends from 5-8pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016, with funeral services at 10am, on Friday, May 20, 2016, all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN, with interment to follow in Memorial Park Southwoods, Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the XYZ Club at Ellendale Baptist Church.
