Carl Contreras Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 4, 2013.
Carl Lamont Contreras passed away on January 2, 2013 at his home in La Center, Washington. Carl served in the US Navy (active duty and reserves) for 21 years and had the opportunity to travel to many places around the world. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and more recently the war in Afghanistan. Following his military career he went in to business for himself as a marine electrician. Carl was born on January 24, 1964 in Lodi, California. He had numerous interests and hobbies and enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest. He could frequently be found using his skills to build or fix just about anything. He was always quick to lend a helping hand when needed. Carl leaves his friends and family with many fond memories. His humor, wit, and kindness will never be forgotten. Carl is survived by his parents, Jose Lamont and Gloria Contreras, and his brother and sister, Martin Contreras and Janine Cohen, and their families.

Farewell Carl - We will miss you forever and hope you have found the peace you deserve.
"May you always have fair winds and following seas."

Thank you so much for all of your heart felt prayers, kind words and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.
A special thank you to Carl's circle of friends in the Vancouver, Washington area for inviting us in to their hearts and sharing their memories of Carl with us. Your hospitality and compassion will always be of great comfort.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Carl. I was searching the internet for him when I saw his picture. Obviously, we didn't keep in touch. I knew him from his stay in Oak Harbor. He was a wonderful person through and through. There was no end to his kind heart. He was a much better friend to me than i was to him and I will have to live with that. My heart breaks for his family and friends. God bless all of you.

My condolences to Carl's family. i met Carl at a training class for Canon copiers in Irvine C in 2011. We spent only 7 weeks together but i grew to have great respect for Carl and the service he did for his country. He was always helpful to all the classmates and just a truly genuine person and a great friend. i am sorry i just found out about Carls passing. i will miss him deeply.

To Carls family I offer my deepest sympathy. Carl and I were roommates up in Vallejo. We visited his family in Thornton. He loved those country roads and driving that El Camino of his. I also had the pleasure of meeting all of you one evening when I was stationed in San Diego. He was a good guy and the world as lost a gentle soul. Our lives are full of regrets, sometimes, and now I regret not getting in touch with Carl again. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

Afganistan in the Winter. Carl is still smiling!

With fair winds and following seas, Carl we bid the anchors away to a fine and model sailor. Jose and Gloria, I know words cannot comfort your loss, but only time and love and good memories. May peace be upon your lives in this time.

We send our deepest sympathies to the Contreras family. Our greatest loss in life is that of a child gone from our arms and lives too soon. We take solace in knowing he now rests in the arms of our Lord. Carl made an indelible mark in our hearts and minds. He always made the time spent in our home better for him having shared his laughter and beautiful smile, wonderful conversations, caring and thoughtful words.

A member of my community has passed. His loss is being felt keenly by people I care about. I wish his own family and friends solace in their sorrow, and his spirit an easier journey as it continues on. Farewell! May you rejoice in the delights of the Summerlands, and feast upon the apples of the sun. And when you are ready, you may if you choose be reborn in this world, for you may live, and meet, and know, and remember, and love them again. Farewell!

Blessed be,
