Dear Bryan, Graham and families:
As a grateful employee, I mailed out a Christmas card to Mr. C.M. Dare in 2007. I wanted to express my appreciation for my job that I held for the past 19 years. Upon receiving the card, Mr. Dare went out of his way to find me and personally thank me for it. I was stunned that he would think so fondly of me.
Then again in 2012, I mailed out another Christmas card to thank him for the $2000 scholarship bursary that was awarded to my step-daughter, Cassie. And again, Mr. C.M. Dare went out of his way to call me on a Saturday evening and personally thank me for the Christmas card I sent him. We talked on the phone for 15 minutes, and I was so honoured that he would think of me with such kindness and concern. I was deeply touched by his care and compassion for me one of his employees.
I am so sorry for your loss. May God comfort you in your time of grief.
Sincerely,

Dear Graham and Sandra, Bryan and Malkin, Carolyn and Harmon:
Sincere condolences to you and your families on the passing of your father, grandfather and great grandfather, extended on behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. The Gallery treasures its long association with your father, as well as earlier times with both Carl and your mother, Ruth.
Our thoughts and sympathy are with you all, as you celebrate and honour a life well lived.
Sincerely, Shirley Madill, Executive Director, KW|AG

Dear Family Members: Bryan, I well remember visiting at you home and talking with your Father and Mother back in university days. They were always very welcoming, and interesting people. I did not know that your dad had been active with the College in earlier times. I believe I remember talking with your Mother about growing up on the prairies. The celebration that your parents hosted when the British pound sterling was devalued by the government still sticks in my memory, as does raising one of the tall Christmas trees that you had in the front hall. Your folks were special people, and my thoughts go out to you and the rest of the family at the loss of both your parents. My own Mother lived to age 96 but died in 2010 after a long life in which she made many special friends. While it wasn't easy to lose her, it was hard not to celebrate the fact that she had lived so many fruitful years. I'm sure you must have similar feelings too. I wish you peace and strength as you face the future.
