Carl Farris Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2015.
Carl Graham Farris, 85, of Rockville, beloved husband of the late Colleen (Aborn) Farris for 50 years, passed away after a brief illness, on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Carl was born in Manchester, CT, to the late Roy and Bessie (Banks) Farris. Carl was retired from Gerber Scientific, and was a veteran of The United States Airforce as a member of the 3555th Air police Squadron on Perrin Airforce Base in Sherman, Texas. Carl was a proud Indian motorcycle owner, and also built and raced stock cars. Summers were spent at the family beach house in Matunuck, Rhode Island, where many fond memories were made. He enjoyed spending time with family, travelling to Las Vegas, and playing cards and pool. An avid golfer, his second home was with his family at Twin Hills Country Club. More recently, his hobby was to restore and drive his vintage Corvette. Carl was an active member of the Italian Social Club, the American Legion, and the Elks. He is survived by his son Michael Farris of Lenoxdale, MA; his daughters Karoli Stachowiak and her husband Daniel of Coventry, and Carla Dias and her husband Jorge of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, and six great grand-children. Carl was predeceased by his loving wife Colleen Farris; his brother Ronald Farris; and his sisters Muriel Grover, and Evelyn Farris. Carl and his family wish to express many thanks to the wonderful caregivers at the RGH Emergency room, Bissell Two, and Woodlake. His family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon, CT from 10 am-12 pm. A Service will be held at the funeral home at 12 noon, followed by burial at Ellington Center Cemetery.
