Carl Lee Guthrie, Sr., age 74, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on December 12, 2022. Carl was born on February 16, 1948, in Elgin, Texas, to Marlin Victor and Joyce (Rengar) Guthrie.
Carl served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during his service. He made his living as a cabinet maker and owned his own cabinetry business. Since 1984, Carl built every house he lived in from start to finish including all the furniture. He also helped his family build their houses. Carl enjoyed rebuilding cars as well. He rebuilt a ’51 Ford and ’67 GTO from the ground up. Carl liked to ride motorcycles and to go fishing. In his younger years, he liked to ride horses. Carl taught himself how to do everything that he knew; a true self-taught, hardworking man.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Joyce. He is survived by his wife, Mirna (Valecillo) Guthrie, his sons, Carl Guthrie, Jr., and Alan Stark, and his daughter, Laura Guthrie.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Knobbs Springs Cemetery (Lower Section) in McDade, Texas.

I am so sad and sorry for your loss. I have a lot of fond memories of him. My parents and our whole family liked keeping in touch through the years. He was fun to be around, and he dealt with many adversities over the years with a positive attitude. In that way, he is an inspiration to us all.

Sorry you had to leave us Carl. We grew up together but later as we grew older we loss touch with one another as it happens in life but I think we always care for one another. You take care now. God has a beautiful home waiting for you.
