I have such fond memories of Carl. "Larger than life" is an overused saying, but I think it describes Carl so well. His goodness, enthusiasm, commitment to right and good causes and seeming pleasure in so much of life were "large".. in the best of all possible ways.
I will miss his spirit very much.
Deep condolences to Carol, Cindy and Ken on your loss. (I feel that the world has suffered a loss as well.)
With much love,
Claudia Cohen, Jessica, Alissa and Rick Bowers

All of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with Carl will remember his joy of life, his caring for others, and his fascinating intellect. A life well lived!

I am deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Haag's death. I am so fortunate that our paths crossed and afforded me the privilege to provide eye care for him over the past 27 years.
I feel particularly honored that Carl chose to make an appointment to have his eyes examined one last time with me, and to say goodbye in person.
Whether I was hearing his voice over the phone, or blessed with his presence at Montgomery Eye Care, Carl always imparted wisdom with a sense of humor, and left me smiling. It was fitting that our last meeting was just in advance of Valentine's Day, and I was able to let Carl and Carol know how treasured they are by me, and all of us at Montgomery Eye Care. Rest in eternal peace with the knowledge that you are loved and missed.
