Carl Lanham

Carl LanhamCarl W. Lanham, 67, of Corbin, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Oak Tree Hospital. Born April 18, 1941, in Corbin, he was the son of the late Arvil and Gillie Lanham.He was a proud member of the Whitley County Rescue Squad in the 60s and 70s, the Corbin Fire Department in the early 70s, and served as chief of the Lily Fire Department in the early 80s. He also operated a 24-hour wrecker service for King’s Truck Stop in the 60s and 70s. Additionally, he was a guitarist, a Mason, and owner of Lanham’s Garage and Wrecker Service since 1981. Meanwhile, he was involved in Laurel County law enforcement for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Leo Lanham and two sisters, Wilma Vaughn and Gladys Lorene Lanham. Survivors include his wife, Beulah Lanham; two sons, Gary Lanham and wife Tammy of Corbin and David Lanham and wife Alaina of Corbin; his daughter, Teresa Rice and husband Mark of Corbin; and three grandchildren, Whitney, Kala and Morgan Rice. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Donnie Vaughn, Connie Bundy, and Darrell and Terry Lanham, as well as many friends, to mourn his passing.A loved and cherished man, he was always involved in giving back to the community and touched the lives of everyone he met. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammie Trosper, Rev. Carl Ray Felts, and Bro. Harold Sulfridge officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Chapel Cemetery.The family of Carl Lanham will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master St. in Corbin (528-5311). Masonic rites will be conducted by the Hugh Harris Lodge No. 938 F. and A.M. at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
