Carl Haden Lawson, 96, of Greentown, went to be with the LORD at 12:07 AM, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his residence. Born March 1, 1915 in Stone County, AR, he was the son of the late Alexander Grant Lawson and Nancy Amanda (McCasland). On January 8, 1938 in Lepanto, Arkansas, he married Violet Evelyn (Ferren), and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2006. He moved to Indiana from Arkansas in 1945. He was retired from Nickel Plate Railroad where he worked for many years. He also worked at Amishland in Waupecong and farmed for a few years. He attended First General Baptist Church where he was an Honorary Deacon. Carl loved the Lord very much and was a witness for Him to whomever he met. His favorite question was “Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?� He also loved to talk to people, look at pictures, and tell stories of his past. He loved his family and his church very much. He had 6 children, Carl B. Lawson (wife Bert) Kokomo, Daniel G. Lawson (wife Neva) Kokomo, Flora Gene Crabtree (husband Roscoe) Greentown, Terry L. Lawson (wife Pat) Galveston, Glenda F. Coning (husband Jim) Kokomo, Kimberlyn O. Lawson (wife Vicky) Greentown. 24 grandchildren, Kenneth Lawson (Kim), Carl W. Lawson (Tina), Raymond Lawson (Elizabeth), Carla Smith (Mike), Crystal Lawson, Clinton Lawson (Stacy), Daniel G. Lawson Jr. (Robin), Russell Lawson (Rena), Denise Shue (Ron), Neva N. McFarland (Josh), Shirley Meeks (Dave), Roscoe H. Crabtree (Margo), Armenda Peach (Tony), Dawn Lawson, Winnie Lawson, Cynthia Williams (Greg), Michael Brown, Roger Hart (Sandy), Robyn Macy, Douglas Coning (Sheri), Heather Coning, Daphney Ingle, Darr Lawson (Kim), and Courtney Lawson. There are also 58 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, parents, 6 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. We want to give a special thank you to Guardian Angel Hospice whom we couldn’t have made it without them, and his “Taxi Drivers for Church� Doris Shipp and Loretta Quinn. We also appreciate all the cards and visits from family and friends. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 14, 2011 at In His Image Church (formerly First General Baptist), 3017 East C.R. 100 North, Kokomo, IN 46901. Pastor Brad Swain will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday at the church; also one hour prior to services on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to In His Image Church Building Fund, with envelopes available at the church. Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel is handling arrangements.
