MAXIN CARL S. "ZEKE", JR.
Age 84, a life-long Moon Township/Coraopolis resident, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at West Hills Health Care Center. He was born in Sewickley on Oct. 3, 1925, one of twelve children to the late Carl S. and Mary (Skolnick) Maxin, Sr. Beloved husband for 40 years to Anna Mae (Hazzard) Maxin; loving father of Carl S. Maxin III (Alice), Sandra DeVincentis (John), Louis Maxin (Kathryn), Scott Maxin (Lori), Jackie Hibbs (Dale), Cathy Machaj, Henry Machaj, Bill Machaj, Carrie Coyne (Keith), Wendy Jones (Robert), Randy Maxin (Rick Roscoe) and Kristin Machaj; proud grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of 16; cherished brother of Mary Margaret Curcio (Joe), Anna Gariti, Joseph Maxin, Paul Maxin (Pat), George Maxin (Jean), Jack Maxin (Pat), Francis Maxin (Flo), Tom Maxin, Andy Maxin (Georgine), and the late Robert Maxin and Martha Maxin. Preceded in death by first wife Katherine (Almacy) Maxin. Retired in 1990 after 37 years with USPO, Coraopolis Office. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, VFW Post 402 and lifetime member of NALC. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Visitation Wednesday 1-3 and 6-9 at COPELAND'S MOON TOWNSHIP, 981 Brodhead Rd. Prayers will be recited Thursday at 10:30am followed by a Service at 11AM in the Zion Lutheran Church of Coraopolis. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.

Our most heartfelt prayers are with you and your family at this time, Anna Mae. Zeke was an icon in our neighborhood, his daily walks to the mailbox or around the yard, checking things out...

He was a man of few words, taking it in, all around him, in the background, rarely making a comment...but when he did...it was profound, directly to the point - cut to the chase, or so ironic or funny...it was classic Zeke.

He had a way... and Heaven knows, with all of the kids, there was plenty going on at all times...yet composed, he was. Not one who's feathers were easily ruffled...a lesson to all of us.

We will miss Zeke and all of his memorable antics but were happy and fortunate enough to have had him for a neighbor and friend for over 25 years.

Our prayers are with you and your family now and always.
