Carl Medlin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2024.
Carl C. Medlin, aged 93, passed away on May 14, 2024, in Polk City, Florida. Born on June 30, 1930, in Cookville, Tennessee, Carl dedicated two years of his life to serving in the U.S. Army, from April 2, 1951, to March 14, 1953, during a pivotal time in American military history.

After his honorable discharge, Carl embarked on a notable career with General Motors, starting in Detroit before moving to the Willow Run Assembly Plant. He retired in 1984 after decades of committed service, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Carl was a man of many interests, including boating, hunting, fishing, RV travel, and carpentry, which he pursued with passion and zeal. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his devotion to his family. Described by those who knew him as hardworking, caring, and a wonderful family man, Carl's presence enriched the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Loretta Medlin (2005) and Linda Medlin (February 24, 2024), as well as his children, Clifton, Robert, Elizabeth Brousseau, and Bruce Burnish. Carl leaves behind a loving family, including his sister Dorothy Cowen, brother Herman Medlin, grandchildren Nicole and Jason Coon, Daniel Burnish, and Tom and Jean Overholser, as well as great-grandchildren Jacob, David, and Jillian Coon, Danielle and Nathan Burnish, and Jessica Overholser.

A service to honor Carl's life will be held at Janowicz Funeral Home on August 11 at 11:00 AM. His life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a steadfast protector, provider, and patriarch.

Carl and Linda loved their fish dinners. We had several wonderful meals enjoying
Their favorite meal. Carl would get some fish from a neighbor and he would freeze all of it. When Wayne and I arrived in Florida I was told I have some fish you can make for me! Gotta love him! Love Betty
