Carl W. Merriman

Carl W. Merriman, 75, of Decatur, IL passed away on Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2012). A memorial service to celebrate Carl's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday (Oct. 5, 2012) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Van Burensburg, IL. Mr. Merriman was born on June 3, 1937 in Fillmore, IL, the son of Wilson C. and Sadie F. (Brown) Merriman. Carl was a heavy equipment operator for 42 years with Tate & Lyle, retiring in 1996. Carl loved horses and was a horseshoeer and a member of the Trail Riders. He married Shelly S. Steele on February 9, 1996. Surviving is his wife: Shelly S. Merriman of Decatur, IL; children: Kathy (Edwin) Nihiser of Decatur, IL, David Carl Merriman of Moweaqua, IL, Brenda (Mark) Wilson of Clinton, IL, Mark (Lara) Merriman of Kenney, IL, Gene Aaron Merriman of Decatur, IL, Charles J. Merriman of Decatur, IL, Gene J. Merriman of Decatur, IL and Carl M. Merriman of Decatur, IL; brother: Frank (Rosemary) Merriman of O'Fallon, MO; sister: Sue (John) Kaufman of Harristown, IL; grandchildren: Carla, Doug, Wendy, Danny, Erin, Wesley, Michael, Jessie, Laura and A.J.; 10 great grandchildren; former daughter-in-law: Brenda Merriman of Indiana.
