Carl Nicsevic Obituary

Published by The Record from May 5 to May 6, 2017.
Carl P. (Kaz) Nicsevic NORTH GREENBUSH - Carl P. (Kaz) Nicsevic, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday May 4, 2017 after a short and courageous battle with the C. He was born January 18, 1937 to the late Felix and Czeslowa Dlugowenska Nicewicz in Troy. Carl was the husband of the late Jacqueline Mancino Nicsevic. He is survived by two of his nine siblings, Barbara Pelcher and Genevieve Nicsevic. He has four loving daughters, Carla, Susan, Judy and Nancy; Sons-in-law, Greg, Jeff, Ray and Dave. He has five grandchildren, Joey, Jessy, Nikolas, Alex and Sydney and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters in in-law and a world full of friends. In addition to his late wife Jacky, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Victoria Brown, Mary James, Helen Nicsevic, Frank Nicsevic, Teresa Barney, Margie Bomba and Joe Niczewicz. Carl worked most recently at the R.P.I. fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi, where he made lifelong friends through the 22 years he was there; his extended family. Carl was genuine to the core, known for his quick wit, friendly smile, love of history and travel and never ending supply of corny jokes. He was his daughter’s biggest softball fan and continued his fandom watching his grandchildren play sports. His pride for his Polish heritage and love of polka music was known by all and he could be seen spinning and gliding across the floor at every weekend dance or festival he could get to. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. A few thoughts Kaz would want us all to remember; don’t take life so seriously, laugh at yourself, take a trip, laugh from your heart, hold your loved ones close and for ssssttt sake, get up and DANCE!!! Ain’t it?!?! The family would like to give a special thanks to the C4 nurses and doctors at Albany Med., NYOH and the many family members and friends who visited and provided support through this tough time. Funeral procession will begin at 8:45 am on Monday morning from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 3rd St. Troy to St. Joseph’s Church where at 9:30 am a funeral Mass will be celebrated, interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 1 – 4 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Derek Murphy Fund; 4 South Colonial Heights, Troy, NY 12180.

Carl was a dear man who I had the pleasure of dancing with many times. His love for music and dancing was evident. And he seemed much younger than his years. May he rest in peace. Or may he dance in peace. Whichever he chooses. :)

I am at a loss for words right now which most would not believe! He was such a fun loving, wild and crazy brother in-law whom I adored even though I teased him endlessly as he did me! We had such fun with our joking ways. I always said I married the best brother but I was blessed to have a special relationship with dear Frank and crazy Caz.
I will miss you so very much but find comfort knowing you have joined so many of our loved ones already in heaven.

To All of Carly P. Nicsevic's Family,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and condolences on the passing of your beloved "Kaz." My long-time friend Gerry Mancino, a member of Kaz's family, told me of his passing. Needless to say, I was heartbroken, as I had been praying for a miracle! Gerry mentioned to me that during his lifetime, Kaz played polka with a polka band and he also danced the polka. I mentioned to Gerry that I attended my last two years of high school with Jimmy Sturr from Florida NY. Jimmy and his band played at all the Polish weddings and dances in the local area and then Jimmy went on to become a famous polka player--I believe Kaz and other family members knew of Jimmy Sturr.
Kaz was a wonderful husband, father, and family member to all in his family and he was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. I do believe he was one of God's very special angels here on Earth. Our blessed Lord has welcomed Kaz into Heaven and told him "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

God bless and prayers to all of Kaz's family,

I'm so incredibly saddened knowing Carl has passed; I was his dance instructor at the EG YMCA and I adored his jokes and fun energy! Being the only male in the class he truly kept us ladies laughing & smiling, as we teased him right back! He will be greatly missed!! A wonderful guy!!
