My condolences to the family of Mr. Pohlad whom I knew through business for many years. His devotion to his family, especially his mother and wife, as well as his many long time business associates speaks volumes about the man. I am sure he is loved and will be missed and we are all better for him having been here.

Rosemary and I send our sympathies to the Pohlad Family and to our neighbor and friend in our St. Louis Park days, Jean Pohlad White.
Jean introduced us only a few times in those years to her brother Carl, but his wonderful character and kindness shone through.

To the Pohlad family,
I remember when I was working for Marquette Bank in the old F&M building, Mr. Pohlad would sometimes come down to the teller line to make a withdrawal. He was always so gracious to the staff and I know how much they appreciated it. My time working with Marquette was wonderful--I only wish that there were still places like that to work. Mr. Pohlad was a kind man and I am grateful to have worked for him. Best wishes and deepest sympathy to all of you.

To the Pohlad Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your father and grandfather. I wish he could have lived to see the new Twins Stadium. I hope that on opening day at the new facility an appropriate memorial is made to this great man. And I echo the comment made about Kirby Puckett welcoming Carl to heaven!

Jim,

Your mom and my mom were friendly for thirty years; your dad and I were friendly acquaintances for 15 years.

When you and I saw each other the other day and I asked you to say hello to your dad from me, I think neither of us realized how final that hello might be.

Life is fragile and the veil that separates life and death is always very thin.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Your parents were very fine people.

Our sincere sympathy goes out to the entire family for your loss. Your "dad", "uncle" or "Grandpa" was a great man!

He also made wonderful contributions to so many and hopefully more will come forward to tell their stories. Mike is out of the country or otherwise he would extend his warm wishes in person. Carl will certainly be remembered as a great mentor, teacher, boss and friend!

Our children, particularly our two young sons (10 & 8) are huge Twins fans and shared some fun stories of how they remember this warm and gentle man.

Keep sharing those wonderful memories and please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

In the 1950s my father was in the banking business in Minneapolis, and Carl Pohlad had just come on the scene at Marquette National Bank. I remember my father saying, "There's a man who's going places!"

I remember when Carl said to Tom Welch "sounds like a solid idea; let's be the first". So Marquette Bank acquired our asset management business in 1972 and renamed it Marquette Capital Management. I spent the next 15 years working for Carl and was one of his senior VP's until I trained in Pat to run the Trust Department. A great man to work for and one who has taught me about asking what can go wrong with any investment [we all know what can go right]; that's why he funded Irwin's W.T Grant receivable funding beacuse Irwin said what could go wrong. Thanks Carl for your lessons and keep the torch burning-Jim, Bill & Bob.

ALL MY BEST TO THE POHLAD FAMILY during this time of thanksgiving for the life of CARL POHLAD. It was my pleasure to serve, even buss his table and get to know him and associates for years while I was working at the Minneapolis Club. He always greeted me with his warm smile and was always a gentleman who taught me the value of listening and caring. Blessed be his memory and he leaves all of us who knew him and his gifts to the greater community all the better for his life among us. STEVE SAETRE [email protected]

To the Pohlad Family,
I want to extend my sympathy to you all. When in 1981 I had gotten a job at Marquette Bank, at the same time farmers and Mechanics Bank your dad bought and was getting ready to buy the Twins also, it was needed to bring his assets up and liabilities down, so they were laying off 65-75 people a day at Marquette. I was a tv teller in the IDS before my layoff from Marquette and with the recession, and just gotten married in May/1981, and when this happened I was out of work for 15 months and because of the recession, got a job $50 a week taking care of children for a foster mom part time, as hard as it was, at one point when years later, purchasing a home in Shakopee, closing in October/1996, had to wait for our 401k withdrawl from my husband employer until after January 1,97, went into Marquette Bank in Shakopee, and explained my dilema, and the vice president at the Shakopee Bank believe in me and my integrity and gave me a short term loan and the vice president under your dad was there to help me, as waiting for our 401 k loan to add to our closing costs, they opened the doors and was very grateful, one promise I made to this man was I was not going to let him down, which I did not, came in and paid the whole balance borrowed non collateral before the due date. I am very grateful for your dad, shortly after that Wells Fargo purchased your family's Marquette Banks, and if I had not had this opportunity from your dad, this story would have had a different ending, I am very grateful for Mr. Carl Pohlad. He was a great teacher, and for all could learn from him.

With Sympathy,
Elaine M Zeiher
