Carl Sanders

Carl Sanders, 76, of Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2024, after a brave and brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born in Queens, New York on January 14, 1948, to the late George and Fay Sanders, Carl led a life filled with love, laughter, and service. He was a devoted husband to Sharon for 48 years until her passing in 2022, and his dedication extended to his role as a proud Naval Veteran and retired Police Officer.

Carl's zest for life was evident in his many passions. He delighted in collecting coins, watching Law & Order marathons, and loved a good Oatmeal Raisin cookie (chewy but not mushy!), pink pineapple and his weekly mani/pedis but his true joy came from sharing laughter and good times with others. With a wicked sense of humor, Carl could always be counted on for a witty joke or a clever quip. He never met a meal he didn't like, cherishing every moment spent around the table with family and friends.

For the last two years, Carl was lovingly adored and cared for by his wonderful community, a testament to the impact he had on those around him. His contagious laugh and enormous heart touched everyone he encountered, leaving behind cherished memories for all.

Carl is survived by his loving children, Jennifer (Darren) Salmieri and Brian (Melissa) Sanders, grandchildren Zachary and Emma Sanders and bonus grandchildren, Josie and Jackson Salmieri. He also survived by his beloved brother Ira (Mary) Sanders, his nieces and nephews, Erin (John) Sidaras, Dan Boylan, Max (Sarah) Sanders, Phoebe Sanders, and Fay (Greg Siegel) Sanders, along with his great nephew, Daniel Boylan, and great nieces, Harper and Stella Sanders.

An incredible, giving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Carl's presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.

Carl will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery where he will be honored with military rites in the coming weeks. The family will observe a private period of mourning to celebrate his life.
