I knew Carl through some mutual friends in Chicago. I spent some holidays with him at our friends home. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was kind and thoughtful and truly cared for others.

Just because time has passed doesn't mean we have forgotten the passing of Carl, or Carl himself, and the family members and friends left behind . I hope that, with time, some of the pain has passed and that some of the wonderful memories of him are shining through.

Dear Ververs family,
Word doesn't always travel as fast as we would like. Had I heard of Carl's passing sooner, I would have reached out much earlier. I just received this tragic news today and am shocked and very saddened, and quite honestly in a state of disbelief. Although we had lost touch over the past number of years, I have many wonderful memories of Carl--in the Netherlands, Germany, Chicago and so on. Carl was a dear, dear friend and will never be forgotten.
My heartfelt condolences go out to all the Ververs. Carl will be deeply missed.

Dear Carl,
We shared the passion of music. We wrote songs together. We shared the experience of going into the recording studio for the first time of our lifes, playing those songs on stage. We had a great time. Then we both went our own ways and lost track of each other for quite some time. Some years ago we found each other again, in fact you found me. And soon we were talking about music again and sending each other recordings.
My God, I simply can't believe that you're not around anymore. What a loss.

Dear Rohanna-- I am just back from abroad on business, and have learned of your loss. Carl was not only a friend and a scholar, but indeed a mentor to me in my earlier professional years. Carl will be sorely missed by all of us, I can say with clarity, from the Hull family. When I heard of your loss, I have to say it was acute; Carl made a huge difference in my life. His joy, humor, laughter, and ultimately some of the most highly refined qualities of humanity he expressed, for my part, have indelibly influence my life, and I'd risk saying those of many others.
