Carl Washburn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2024.
Carl R. Washburn, aged 91, of Springfield, OH, passed from this life on March 4, 2024. Born on March 7, 1932, in the same town he would eventually lay his head to rest, Carl's journey was one marked by dedication, service, and love.

A valiant paratrooper in the United States Army, Carl answered the call of duty during the Korean War and served his country with honor. Upon returning to civilian life, he continued to demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, culminating in a rewarding career at Robins & Myers from where he would retire.

The patriarch of a large and loving family, Carl leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary Ann (Knapke) Washburn. His legacy is carried on through his son, Rick (Teresa) Washburn, and his daughters, Connie O'dell, Dianne (Ben) Burns, Helen (Jud) Widner, and Sherri (Chuck) Mullins, as well as his cherished ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his siblings Stanley "Bob" Washburn, John Washburn, Helen Heaton, and Dorothy Krupp.

In respect of Carl's wishes, a private service will be held for the family. Conroy Funeral Home and Rosehill Cemetery is overseeing the arrangements.

In memory of Carl R. Washburn, a man of honor, a beacon of strength for his family, and a proud veteran, his memory will be treasured and his presence deeply missed.
