Carl Whitaker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2013.
WHITAKER
Carl Dean Whitaker, 69, of London, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Madison County Hospital at 3:15 p.m. after a courageous battle with cancer for the past 10 years.
We praise the Lord that Carl remained faithful until death and finished the race.
Carl was born Nov. 22, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Darmel and Lela Creamer Whitaker.
He was married to Cary Sue Bock Whitaker on Aug. 26, 1966.
He graduated from Madison South High School in 1961. He graduated from Kentucky Christian College with BS in Education in 1966. He also received his Master Degree in Education from Xavier University in 1980.
He taught school in the Northeastern (Clark) and Miami Trace (Fayette) School Districts. He later was Superintendent for the MRDD Program in Fayette County for 15 years. After this, he started working for the USPS as a rural mail carrier in Jamestown, Ohio until June of 2013 due to health reasons.
Presently, he was a member and elder of the Transformation Christian Church. Through the years he has been an active Christian and has given Spiritual guidance to many people in word and deed. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He was also a loving and caring servant for His Lord and Savior and continued to strive to reflect the characteristics of Christ in his daily walk.
In addition to his parents and his supporting in-laws Cary and Betty Bock, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joellyn Whitaker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Casey (Sarah) Whitaker of Clarksville, Ohio and Cody (Carrie) Whitaker of Jeffersonville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kristen and Janelle of Clarksville, Ohio, Cade Dean and Colt of Jeffersonville, Ohio; sisters, Janice Whitaker of Grundy, Virginia, Darrell (Jeri) Adams and Steve (Mary) Beery of London, Ohio; a brother, Jon (Cinda) Whitaker of Springfield, Ohio; many nieces, nephews, friends; and his Church Family where he was proud to call them His brothers and sisters in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at MORROW FUNERAL HOME, 41 S. Main St., Jeffersonville. Casey Whitaker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.
In lieu of flowers and donations which are perishable, Carl would request that all people would seek and trust in the Lord while he can be found, lean not on their own understanding and pursue the imperishable.

To Carls' family, my Sister and I would like to express our sincere condolences. We grew up in the country as neighbors,I left the area in 1965, but Martha continued living there another 20 years. We both remember him as a kind and gentle human being and a good neighbor. May God bless his family.

I had the great privilege of being a class mate of Carl's and played basketball with him from Junior High at Madison Rural through Senior High at Madison South. We graduated together from Madison South in 1961. He continued his education and I joined the Air Force as a career Airman. Carl is in a far better place and is no longer suffering. He will be missed but he has left his mark affecting many lives during his time on earth. Love you Carl and will join you one day.

I had the privilege of working with Carl at the Jamestown OH post office. Truly one of the finest gentlest souls I have ever known. An absolute professional as well as a gentlemen. We who worked with him are all better as human beings for having had the pleasure of his company. I hope his family finds peace at this difficult time. Carl will truly be missed.....

Carl delivered mail to our church cheerfully every day for many years. I always appreciated his testimony to Christ even when he didn't physically feel good.

Dear Whitaker family,
Unfortunately, I did not know Carl personally, but I know that he was a great man, as I can see the fruit of his labors in his son, Cody, whom I know well. I don't know a better person than Cody, full of integrity, kindness and a strong faith in Christ. It is a testament to what a great teacher and example Carl was. I share your feelings of loss and you have my deepest and most sincere sympathies, but more than that...so much more than that, I rejoice in your sure knowledge that he "remained faithful until death and finished the race".
