Carla R. Corcoran

AMESBURY — Carla R. Corcoran, 45, of Amesbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.

Carla grew up and was educated in Salem, N.H., graduating from Salem High School in 1982. She graduated from Salem State College in 1993.

Carla was employed as a tour guide for The House of the Seven Gables, Salem, and as an interpreter at the Museum of American Textile History in North Andover. Most recently, she volunteered at the Bartlett Museum in Amesbury. She worked extensively for various organizations that provided help for abused women and children in Salem and Lawrence. Almost published, she was an avid and talented writer and fan of poetry and folklore.

She was predeceased by her father, William J. Corcoran and her maternal grandparents, Dr. Anthony and Mrs. Adeline Ippolito. She is survived by her mother, Joyce M. Corcoran of Hampton, N.H.; paternal grandmother, Louise Corcoran of Lawrence; three brothers, Layne Corcoran and his wife Cathy of Auburn, N.H., Darro Corcoran and Mary DeJesus of Lawrence, Christopher Corcoran of Hampstead, N.H.; two aunts, Carol Chrest and her husband Stanley of Rye, N.H., Mary Morris of Lawrence; uncle, Raymond Corcoran and his wife Mary Jo of Dracut; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be private for the family. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, N.H.
