Carlos Aguirre Sr. UPPER Carlos Aguirre Sr., 65, of Texas City, passed away on April 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 11, 1959, to Dolores Villamil Aguirre and Arthur Aguirre Sr. in Galveston, Texas. Carlos is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Brandon Aguirre.
Carlos was raised in Galveston, Texas, and soon after graduating from Ball High School in 1977, enlisted in the US Army, where he served his country honorably, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, and Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Carlos began work for Frito-Lay, delivering chips and snacks for many years. He ultimately made a career serving his community with the Texas City Independent School District as a Stadium Maintenance Supervisor, where he retired after 20 years. During these 20 years, he meticulously maintained all sports fields in pristine condition and took great pride in his work, demonstrating the discipline, dedication, and craftsmanship he developed throughout his life.
Carlos found joy in his hobbies, which reflected his carefree spirit and skillful hands, such as woodworking, tinkering in the garage, and washing cars on most Saturday mornings. His love for music and charismatic energy led him to create some of the best playlists and DJ at many lively parties in his early years. As a member of the local popular band in Galveston County, Mambo Jazz Kings, Carlos brought the rhythm, funk, and soul alive on stage with his passion for playing the bongos in the early to mid 90's; his love and true passion for music carried over into his everyday life, where the sounds of music could often be heard wherever Carlos was. In the mid-90s, his spare time was spent hanging out with his closest friends, playing in a competitive dart league at many venues on the island of Galveston. In more recent years, you would catch him using his spare time in the garage designing personalized custom holsters for many law enforcement servicemen and women in the area. His family and friends will remember Carlos for his kindness, quiet strength, and the special way he made everyone feel seen, respected, and truly welcomed-a legacy of love and dignity that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife, TK Aguirre; his children, Christina Tello of Austin and Carlos Aguirre Jr. and his wife Shannon of Houston; his stepchildren Michelle Polanco and her husband Paul of League City, and Danny Kirtley and his wife Justine of San Antonio; his brothers, Arthur Jr. and his wife Donna of La Marque, Mario Sr. and his wife Debbie of Hitchcock, and Ruben Aguirre and his husband Andrej of Webster; his grandchildren, Caitlynn Maceo-Lopez, Noah Tello, Madelynn Medina, Annie Aguirre, Camille Aguirre, Alexandra Polanco, Summer Polanco, and Arianna Polanco.
A Celebration of Carlos' Life will be held from 5:00 PM to 08:00 PM on June 20, 2025, at the Texas City Municipal Police Association Building, 300 Rankin Dewalt Road, Texas City, Texas 77590.
