BONANNO Carmine J. Bonanno WWII Purple Heart recipient, formerly of Clark, 83 Carmine J. Bonanno, 83, of the Holiday City Berkeley section of Berkeley Township, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at the Community Medical Center, Toms River. Family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 Saint Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Johns R.C. Church, Lakehurst. Committal will follow in St. Gertrudes Cemetery, Colonia. Email condolences may be sent to the family by visiting ryanfuneralhome.com. Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Bonanno lived in Clark before coming to Holiday City Berkeley in 1996. He was a mason for 60 years and a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 4 in Newark. Mr. Bonanno was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 325, and VFW Post 7363, both in Clark. He was a former parishioner of St. Agnes R.C. Church, Clark. Mr. Bonanno was predeceased by his wife, Silvana (nee Faggi), whom he met and married in Florence, Italy, during World War II. He is survived by a son, Angelo of Browns Mills; a daughter, Camille Termott of Clark; three sisters, Mary Bonanno and Angie Della Pia, both of Newark, and Anna DiFino of Ocean; and three grandchildren, Angelo Jr., Pamela Webster and Brian Thomas, and four great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Jacqueline Webster and Kaitlyn and Camille Bonanno. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., Toms River, N.J. 08753.
