Carney "Man" E. Woodson went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 27, 2020, at 3:35 a.m. at St. Vincent Seton Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana, as a result of accident injuries sustained in Kokomo while crossing the street on March 3. He was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Port Royal, Tennessee, to the Rev. Charles E. Woodson and Ruby Woodson Curry.
He received his earlier education from Pisgah Elementary School in Port Royal, Tennessee, and graduated from the Historic Burt High School 1964 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Carney professed his life to Christ at an early age in Port Royal, Tennessee, at Nevels Chapel Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee. He proudly served his country and was a decorated Vietnam veteran. He was employed by Chrysler for 24 years.
Carney is survived by his mother, Ruby Curry, equally loved by his other mother, Flora Woodson; three sisters, Charleszetta Lewis (Leo), Nadine Newsom, Gilbert, Arizona, Judy Bernard (Bobby), Indianapolis, Indiana; nieces, Felicia Craddock and Monique (Carl) Baucham; nephews, Carlos Woodson, Nathaniel Newsom III, Illinois, Frank Smith Jr., Michael, Kevin, Joseph, Justin, and Jacque Simmons, and Marcus Craddock; special cousin/brother, Rudolph Woodson; brother-in-love, Kenneth Craddock; and a host of other family members and friends. 
Carney's father, the Rev. Charles Woodson, other father, John Curry; sisters, Vernocia Simmons, Lorene Joyce Craddock, Emogene Killebrew, and brothers, Phillip Sebree and John Curry Jr.; brothers-in-love, Nathaniel Newsom Jr. and Willie Simmons Jr., preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020, at Bluitt and Son Funeral Home, Kokomo, Indiana, from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Marion National Cemetery. Services of comfort are entrusted to Bluitt and Son Funeral Home. www.bluittandson.com
