CAROL A. (VANEK)
Age 58, of Mount Lebanon, surrounded by her loving family, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife for 37 years of Scott R. Bodamer; devoted mother of Christopher (Patricia) of Upper St. Clair, Brian (Shauna) of Mt. Lebanon, Jason (Kellie) of Mt. Lebanon and Shannon Bodamer of Boston, MA; loving "Grammy" of Brooke, Audrey, Colin, Grant, and Drew; daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Vanek; sister of Francis, Marian Vanek (Dan Griffin), Paula Kingston, Michele Vanek, Matthew (Karin), Annette Vanek (Edward Durner), and the late Armand Vanek; sister-in-law of Philomena; also survived by nieces and nephews. Carol graduated from Carlow College with her BS in nursing and was working towards her master's at Duquesne University. She was a board member of the American Case Management Association. Carol thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially family vacations to the Outer Banks. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Bernard Church, Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be private. If desired, family suggests memorials may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 333 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

My deepest sympathies to the Vanek and Bodamer families. I was a high school classmate of Carol's at Boyle. Our beautiful prom queen! She always had a smile on her face and spoke kindly of everyone. I was shocked and am saddened to hear of her passing. She is at peace with God now.

Carol was more than my sister-in-law, she was a true friend. Her love and devotion to Scott and her children was a gift to witness. Her smile and sparkling blue eyes will live on through her children and grandchildren. God Bless You Carol, I will never forget the strength, warmth and wisdom you shared with me as we grew up together as young married women.
Prayers for healing go to your family. What a marvelous legacy you and Scott have created, and I am fortunate that I had a chance to be part of your family. Love to all the Bodamers and Vaneks in this time of sorrow.
