Carol Boyd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 21, 2025.
Carol Siems Boyd, 92, passed away peacefully from complications of COVID on September 15, 2025, in Manchester, New Hampshire. Born on October 10, 1932, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Carol lived a life marked by creativity, intellect, and grace.

Carol earned her bachelor's degree in English and Education and went on to inspire generations of students through her teaching career. She taught high school English and Drama to junior and senior gifted high school students in Menomonie, Wisconsin; Edina, Minnesota; and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland. Her passion for literature and the arts left a lasting impression on her students and colleagues alike.

In addition to her work in education, Carol held creative and training positions at Jelleff's Department Store. Later in life, she channeled her artistic talents into sculpting and dressing dollhouse dolls for the Washington, DC Dollhouse and Toy Museum. Her intricate craftsmanship earned her a devoted following among collectors who cherished the unique charm of her creations.

Carol was also a gifted seamstress and an avid traveler. She delighted in sharing her creative skills with her daughter Caroline, passing down not only techniques but also a deep appreciation for artistry and expression. Her marriage to a diplomat brought opportunities to live around the world, where she embraced each new culture with enthusiasm. She took pride in representing the United States abroad as the wife of a Diplomat and hosted everything from creatively-themed cocktail parties to formal, elegant dinners that reflected both hospitality and sophistication. No matter where she lived, Carol had at least one dog and she fostered dogs for several rescue organizations.

A woman of faith, Carol and her family attended English-language Protestant churches wherever they lived overseas. She was actively involved in volunteer work and regularly participated in mid-week Bible studies. Her spiritual commitment was evident in both word and deed.

After retirement, Carol & Bill traded in international travel for attending miniature conventions around the U.S. and for moving to be near Caroline as she progressed in her career. After Bill passed, Carol moved to New Hampshire to be near Caroline & Doug for the last five years.

Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill; her parents, Caroline (née Drilling) and Henry Siems; as well as her brothers Ed Siems (Mary) and Bob Siems (Jeane). She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Caroline Boyd Tricarico and Caroline's husband Doug Tricarico, as well as a dear best friend of many years, Gail Newberry.

Carol's legacy lives on through the many lives she touched as an educator, artist, wife, mother, and friend. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

Carol's final resting place will be with Bill at Arlington National Cemetery. She requested no memorial service.

My Aunt Carol, my Dad´s little sister was a remarkable woman. She was gracious, talented and lovely. I remember once when she visited our family in Washington State. We went to the beach and I thought she was so beautiful in her shorts, blouse tied at her midriff, and platform sandals. She could be a movie star. She influenced my Mother with her love for miniatures and dolls making.
She will be remembered with much fondness.
