Carol DiNapoli

Carol Ann DiNapoli, our Mom and Nana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 27, 2025.

Born in Boston on October 13, 1943 to parents James and Alice (Cioppa) Cavallo, she was predeceased by her brothers, James (Sonny) Cavallo and Forrest Cavallo. She was a resident of Dorchester, Braintree, Weymouth and most recently, Medway Massachusetts.

Carol is reunited with her "Big Guy", her beloved husband of 57 years, George DiNapoli. Their enduring love and dedication to one another was the foundation for their home and family.

She is survived by her children, one by birth and one by marriage, Leah & Victor Valente and her loving granddaughters, Eliza & Amelia Valente. She leaves behind beloved cousins and countless friends and Weathervane neighbors with whom she has shared many years of love and laughter (and the occasional pumpkin martini!)

Carol was a graduate of Dorchester High School, class of 1961 and started her career at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston where she met and fell in love with George. In 1969 she retired to devote herself to caring for her family.

Carol had a great sense of humor and laughed easily. She showed her love through food, and lots of it, prepared with utmost care and always served on beautiful dishes. Her home was always welcoming to friends and family and decorated to reflect each season and holiday. Her Christmas Cookie trays were legendary. Her kitchen always had the aroma of anise from fresh baked biscotti or sauteed garlic and olive oil for a Sunday gravy. She perfected the charcuterie board before it was trendy.

Carol enjoyed simple pleasures: a hot cup of hazelnut decaf coffee with just enough cream for "a pretty color", listening to the music of her favorite crooners, lunch with friends, and most especially, spending time with her granddaughters making meatballs and cookies, and watching movies. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, entertaining, and never left Homegoods or the Christmas Tree Shop empty handed.

We are so grateful for her loving presence in our lives. She leaves us with her example of resilience and strength, her contagious laughter, boundless love, and cherished recipes, so that when we gather together around our table, we know she and Papa will not be far from us.

Our family would also like to express our sincere gratitude for the loving care shown by her many friends, staff, and caregivers at her home in the Whitney Place community.
