Carol Downing

Carol Alaire Downing (née Mallorey), age 76, passed away on June 15, 2025. Born on March 1, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Carol's life spanned more than seven decades of change and growth, and through it all she remained a steady presence for those who knew her. Born and raised in Ohio, she carried with her the values of resilience and care that defined her generation. Long time resident of Canfield, Ohio, although graduated from Tallmadge High School (1967) she went on to earn her degree from Ohio University in 1971, Go Bobcats!

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rebecca Lloyd (Eric) and Jessica Graves, her "ca-ca" kids. Carol was a proud Grammy to Gregorey Atkinson, Leeland Darovich, Jaime Graves, Jaida Graves, and Joey Graves. Her love for them was unwavering and deeply felt. Her legacy also lives on through numerous nieces and nephews who were part of her extended family circle.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Howard and Alaire Mallorey, sisters Twyla and Pam, and brother Howard Mallorey Jr, whose memories she cherished throughout her life.

Carol's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. Those who knew Carol remember her as kind and generous, full of life and spontaneity. Her beauty radiated not only outwardly but also through her actions and presence. She carried herself with grace and strength, embodying an independent spirit that inspired those around her.
