Carol J. Fitzpatrick

Quaker Hill - Carol J. Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at home with her loving family. She was born in Middletown June 4, 1931, the daughter of Lillian and Carl Johnson. She met her husband John "Jack" Fitzpatrick at her childhood summer home at Job's Pond, Portland. They married Feb. 16, 1952, and shared 64 years of love.

Carol was a proud graduate of the Hartford School of Nursing, Class of 1952. She had a long and varied nursing career, having fulfilling roles as a private duty, doctor's office, and labor and delivery nurse as well as a long-time cancer care nurse at Uncas-on-Thames. In Carol's world there was no such thing as a "former'" Nurse! She taught medical terminology for years at Huntington Institute in Norwich. Carol was a champion mover, having had to move the household multiple times during Jack's Navy career. She enjoyed singing and was a faithful long-term member of the Park Congregational Church choir. Holiday decorating was one of her pleasures. A Thanksgiving table full of family and friends brought her particular joy!

Carol was predeceased by her parents and beloved husband. She is survived by her brother Carl Johnson in Middletown; daughters, Kim and Amy in Quaker Hill; daughter Jan in Bristol, RI.; and son John in California. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jesse Tremblay in Columbia, Ali Corey in Bristol, RI., Katelyn Frantz in Virginia Beach, VA., Mathhew Mulholland in Norwich, and Taelar and Faith Fitzpatrick in Escondido, CA.; as well as nieces and nephews, cousins, and eight great-grandchildren.
