Carol Haeger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2022.
It is with deep sadness that we must say goodbye to Carol Ann Haeger. Carol passed away on August 30, 2022 at the age of 84 in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois. In recent years, she had been battling several serious medical issues, but despite the pain, she stayed strong until the end. This is just one example of Carol's courage as she faced many life challenges with a smile. Born December 25, 1937, Carol is predeceased by her parents Roy and Leona Haeger, her brother, Leroy Haeger, and her sister, Joan Haeger. She was the beloved Auntie Carol (aka AC) to many, and to more than a few, a second mom. Her compassion and generosity knew no bounds. She was loved dearly and will be missed terribly. Carol's happiest times were spent at home with her family, cooking, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and binge watching her favorite television shows. Special thanks goes out to her wonderful caregivers, CC, Mari, and Ami, for taking loving care of her while she lived with her niece, Renee McCarthy (Justin) for the past several years. A small memorial luncheon in celebration of life will be held for close friends and family members.

Thinking about Carol, did a Google search, and wondering if this might be the woman I worked with back in the 80's - early 90's at S&S Automotive. The Carol I knew was so kind and always had a smile. And a good recipe!

I was so lucky to not only get to know Carol, but to love her, to be loved by her, and to grow up with her by my side. I will forever cherish the time that I got to spend with her, watching Jeopardy every day at three, helping her cook, and painting her pictures. Carol taught me everything I know about being a good person. I find comfort in knowing that she´s somewhere safe now - no more pain, fear, or confusion. I love you so much, Auntie. I´ll never stop looking for you in the stars.
