Carol Mae Hoch, age 85, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital after a short illness.

Friends and family will gather at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 AM. Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate. Private inurnment will be at St. Peter''s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

The former Carol Mae Neis was born on September 15, 1928 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Irving and Nellie (Smith) Neis. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School in 1946, Carol Mae worked as a receptionist at Monarch Range in Beaver Dam. As was customary at the time, she was expected to stop working after she was married. On May 6, 1950, she was united in marriage with Harold "Huns" Hoch at St. Peter''s Church in Beaver Dam; he preceded her in death on August 4, 2013. Carol Mae was a wonderful wife and mother who always had a positive attitude and a smile. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish where she was active with the Catholic Women, the Daughters of Isabella, and the New Life Choir. Carol Mae was an avid volunteer; she was the volunteer coordinator of Meals-On-Wheels for 30 years, she volunteered at the blood bank, and she was a poll worker on election days.

Survivors include her; four children, Thom (Darlene) Hoch of Beaver Dam, Jerry (Debbie) Hoch of Waukesha, Janice (David) Bilgri of Beaver Dam, and William Hoch of Bozeman, MT; eight grandchildren, Andrea (Gage) Hymas, Justin (Kaytlyn) Hoch, Sarah (Kevin) Yarbrough, Erica (Paul) Ferrini, Julie (Jordan) Kroll, Ben (Sarah) Bilgri, Nick (Anna) Bilgri, and Alex Bilgri; seven great grandchildren (and three more on the way); her sister, Nancy Behrend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Sharon Kant; her brother, George Neis; and other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Memorials may be made in Carol Mae Hoch''s name to Meals-On-Wheels or Church Health Services.
