Carol Holloway Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2019.
Carol Williams Holloway, 71, of Brunswick, departed this life Friday, January 11, 2019 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 103 King Cotton Road, Brunswick, GA. A family burial will take place at a later date in Marysville, OH.
Born November 25, 1947 in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Robert Wright and Ruth Cox Williams, she was a graduate of Syosset High School, Long Island, NY, and attended The Art Students League of New York in New York City. She moved with her parents to England in the late 1960's and spent time living and traveling around Europe. In the mid 1970's after a brief stint in California, she relocated to Jekyll Isl., where her parents had retired.
Carol developed a deep interest in European culture, particularly Great Britain. Over time through her extensive travels she gathered a collection of antiques which she restored and sold in her businesses, Spring House Antiques on St. Simons Isl., and later, as CWH Antiques.
She was a skilled artist and interior decorator as well. Her most notable works were The Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island, The Old Edwards Inn and Spa, and Highlands Inn, both in Highlands, N.C., and numerous homes on Sea Island and St. Simons.
Survivors include a daughter, Jessica W. Holloway-Bates and husband William Alexander, and a granddaughter, Adaline Ruth Bates.
Carol had a great affection for her pets, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia. Memorials may also be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles. Edo Miller and Sons has charge of arrangements. www.edomillerandsons.com
