Mary Ellen Miller 1923—2017
Mary Ellen Miller, 94, of Lena, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born March 20, 1923, in Bowling Green, OH, the daughter of Clyde and Ada Clark. She graduated from Bowling Green High School in the class of 1940. Mary Ellen married Oscar Clark Miller on December 4, 1942. She worked as a housewife until 1979, and then became a Librarian at Highland Community College for 20 years. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Lena. Mary Ellen loved bible study, bridge, knitting, and the Chicago White Sox. Oscar and Mary Ellen lived in Columbus, OH, Harrisburg, PA, Boston, MA, Saginaw, MI, Streeter, IL and Paris, IL, during his 35 years with International Harvester, and finally retiring to Lena, IL. Mary Ellen is survived by 3 sons, Clark (Susan) Miller of Lanark, IL, Joe (Mary Jane) Miller of Bloomington, IL, and James (Barbara) Miller of Polo, IL; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar on June 14, 1991; 4 sisters, Jean Oates, Martha Azzam, Opal Nesef, and Charlotte Snow; and brother, Clyde Clark Jr.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017, at Leamon's Funeral Home in Lena, IL. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 4, at Lanark Cemetery. Rev.
