Carol Long Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 11, 2024.

Carol A. Long, age 77 of East Haven, CT, beloved wife of the late James R.Long Sr peacefully entered eternal rest on December 5th, 2024 in her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on November 2nd, 1947 in Bridgeport,CT.

She was the daughter of the late William and Josephine Dillon. Over the years, Carol held many positions while working in the trucking industry for several local companies and was a business owner until her retirement. She was a very sociable person that really enjoyed initiating a conversation with everyone she met. She was a member of many local arts and crafts clubs and was a very talented knitter, doll maker, and painter/sculpture. Carol loved the ocean and to travel abroad, especially the coastline of the Northeast. She will be sadly missed by her family and will remain forever in our hearts.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory, son, James Long Jr, daughter, Jennifer Long-Salley and husband William Salley, sister, Maureen Dillon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

My Aunt Carol used to watch me when I was a little one. She spoiled me and I watched a lot of TV and movies at her apartment. She played for me once the first film score recording that I´d ever heard. It was Harry Potter and moved me deeply. My Aunt in this time inadvertently directed me towards the wonders of film and music - I remember accompanying her on her cigarette breaks, I could tell she enjoyed my 9 year old company and that was a feeling I´ll never forget.

What a beautiful tribute. The love she received and the care she received from Jen, Billy and Jim will be a guiding light on her journey to heaven. God bless her...and the family. With love, Kathy and Brad

I have fond memories of Auntie Carol doing my makeup for my dance recitals EVERY SINGLE YEAR! She was my Godmother and always gave the coolest handmade gifts. I remember many smiles and laughs in my childhood with her and Uncle Jim
