CAROL SHANNON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 8 to Apr. 10, 2017.
SHANNON
CAROL S. (PERRY)
After living a life full of spirit, laughter, and friendship to all that came across her path, Carol Shannon died peacefully on April 6, 2017. Born on December 31, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio. Carol moved to the Pittsburgh area and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1965. Carol broke the mold early in life, being the one to ask her husband to marry and going to work for TWA as a receptionist. Soon thereafter, she settled in to her favorite role, that of a mother and wife, and continued her career in one of her favorite places, The Penguin Bookstore in Sewickley. Those who knew Carol will remember her for her incredible kindness, sense of humor, fine-tuned ear for listening, generosity, and deep compassion for the less fortunate. Carol always loved a gathering and the party always loved her. Later in life she entertained all with her quick wit and inspired us with her will to overcome any obstacle. A room with Carol was a room full of love. More than anything, she loved her friends and family. Carol is survived by her husband, George; and her three children, Sean, Matthew, Chad and his wife, Catherine. She is also survived by her father, Steward Perry; and her sister, Lyn Anzalone. The family will be receiving visitors at COPELAND'S SEWICKLEY 702 Beaver St. on Monday and Tuesday 2-4, 6-8 p.m., with prayers on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., in Sewickley at 10 a.m. Rev. Thomas J. Burke will officiate. Memorial gifts can be made to Villa St. Joseph in Carol's name to 1030 State Street, Baden, PA 15005.

Dear George and family, Carol was always a trooper. I first meet her years ago at a party at Michael Dick's. It was a western affair and Carol was up for the theme. She always rolled with the punches. Since I know Carol left huge parts of herself with each of you, I consider her missing in action, not gone. Enjoy your memories and please know our sorrow is with you. Sincerely, Mary, Bart and Max, Bridget, Kelly and Bart Beier

To Carol's beloved and devoted husband George and their three sons, their families and her hundreds of friends and fans! Carol was a brilliant star in all of our lives. She never failed to light up the room and warm our hearts. What a friend! I've known Carol and George and her sons since Bill and I and our family arrived here in Sewickley over three decades ago. What a privilege and a joy it has been in every aspect. My deepest condolences on your loss. She leaves us all with wonderful memories.
