Carol Ann Straub Toro, 63, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday while vacationing in Florida. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Timothy P. Toro.
Born and raised in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eileen Bruschelli Straub. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1977. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Abington Heights School District, Supermarket Services and Trane Company.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Tara Cesare Wallace and her husband, Eric, of Waverly; Mauri Cesare Conlon and her husband, Thomas, of Hilton Head Island; Kyle Cesare and his wife, Olivia, of Philadelphia; Breanna Toro, of New York City; and Timmy Toro, of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Jessica Toro Bianchi and her husband, Christopher, of South Abington Twp.; and Corrine Toro, of Philadelphia. In addition to her children, she is survived by her six granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard Straub.
Carol enjoyed her time as treasurer of the Abington Heights girls basketball team and as a cheer coach for the Abington Heights Junior Comets. She was her children's biggest fan and could be heard cheering loudly at their basketball, football, golf, dance recitals, track and field, and cheerleading events. Carol loved shopping and cooking and was notorious for her famous strombolis. She loved spending time with her dogs (Newman and Stewart), lounging by Mimi's pool and relaxing at the beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
