Carolina Gomez

Carolina Martinez Gomez, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2015 at the age of 90. She was born on June 26, 1924 in Alvin, Texas to Liborio Apolinar and Teresa (Salazar) Martinez. She passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she spent the last few years in the care of her daughter and the loving staff at The Rio Las Estancias Nursing Facility. Most of her life was spent in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed family, painting, serving her community at local senior citizen facilities and gave a lot of her time to her local Red Cross.
Her legacy lives on in her 5 children, Rosana (Brian) of Naples, Florida; Marietta (Mike) of Houston, Texas; Delilah of La Porte, Texas; Antoinette (Cary) of Jarales, New Mexico and Ernest (Sandra) of El Paso, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings, Hortance Mottu, Gloria Montgomery, Lydia Martinez, Esther Stanley, Bill Martinez, Lee Martinez and 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and a good friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Johnny, Oscar and Victor Martinez and her sister, Nacha.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 3rd from 5-8 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home located at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas 77023. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 4th at 2:30 pm at the same address above. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to your local Alzheimer Foundation.
