Carolina Rios Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 23, 2025.
Knox City - Loving wife, mother, daughter, "Mom", friend, and so much more to those who got to know her. The unexpected, and heartbreaking passing of Carolina Rios (Rocha) to be with our Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2025 has left us all saying goodbye to her far too soon and with our hearts heavy and not quite ready.

A rosary is planned for 7:00pm Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Knox City, TX and a funeral mass will be held at 2:00pm Monday, May 26, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rhineland, TX with Father Joseph Lim officiating. Burial will follow services at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Carolina Rios (Rocha) was born on March 6, 1948 to Aurora and Simon Rocha. Carolina grew up in Knox City, TX where she met and married the love of her life, Guadalupe M. Rios Sr. "Lupe".

Carolina and Lupe experienced 57 long and loving years of marriage together; living and working hard in unison to build and provide a beautiful life for themselves and their 2 children; son, Lupe Rios Jr., and daughter, Christy Munoz. Carolina set the bar high for herself to become known as the hardest working, genuine, friendly and dependable woman out there. She set her standards even higher to be the most amazing wife, mother and grandmother/great-grandmother, or "Mom"/"Lady" as some of us called her, to five grandchildren; Dawn Sanchez and husband Felipe Sanchez, Bryce Munoz and fiance Alexis Navarro, Nyome Munoz and significant other Javier Reyes, Whitney Large Thomas and Tiffany Rios; and eight great-grandchildren whom she loved and completely adored with every once in her, and also spoiled at any given chance she got; Jaknay Sanchez, Felipe Sanchez III "Lip", Yeacie Munoz-Reyes, Guadalupe Munoz-Reyes "Gabi", Lauren Thomas, Caroline Thomas, Hunter Thomas and Kailey.

Eight men will respectfully and lovingly lay Carolina down to rest are those who cared for, and would do just about anything for her, just as she would for them. Pallbearers are Bryce Munoz, Corey Embers, Felipe Sanchez, Javier Reyes, Ancil Flores, Alfred Rios, Nefro Gonzales and Ricky Gonzales.

Carolina is survived by her daughter, Christy Munoz.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Aurora and Simon Rocha, her husband; Lupe Rios Sr., and her son; Lupe Rios Jr.
