Caroline Butler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 5, 2023.
Caroline (Favreau) Butler, 52, of Enfield and previously longtime resident of Montréal, Québec, Canada, loving wife of 26 years to Robert T. "Bob" Butler, and devoted mother to Samuel and Tiffany, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Caroline was born on November 10, 1970, in Montréal, one of two daughters to the late Pierre Favreau and Mariette Castonguay.

Caroline grew up in the Ahuntsic Quarter of Montréal, attended local schools including St. Simon Apôtre Primary School, Sophie-Barat High School, and was a graduate of Lucien-Pagé High School, Class of 1988. Furthering her education, Caroline attended business and marketing classes at College Maisonneuve and went on to study at Rosemont College, where she obtained her degree in Thanatology. In 1994, Caroline and Bob met and began dating. In August of 1996, they married and began their life together, settling in Enfield, CT. Caroline had the most kind and warm heart. Her life was dedicated to helping others. She frequently volunteered her time as a caregiver to the elderly with Masonicare where she would often drive them to their doctor appointments as well as assist them in daily activities. As a lover of animals, every Wednesday morning, she would travel from Enfield to East Hartford to volunteer at Protectors of Animals and local shelters. She was a member of Healthtrax, where she routinely exercised and attended classes with her wonderful friends she met in Glastonbury, Enfield, and East Longmeadow. As a Québeçois patriot, she spent years traveling throughout Québec to share the French language, music, and culture with her kids and husband. Caroline successfully raised her children in the french language and kept a strong presence with her family and friends in the Montréal area. She became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen on March 7th, 2012, another proud day in her life. An explorer and adventurer, she enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, beginning with a memorable trip with Bob to the Amazon when they first met. She was always up for an RV trip, fishing, riding an ATV or a snowmobile, skiing, and hiking. She even climbed Mount Langley in the Sierras. Caroline had a wonderful artistic and spiritual mind. She believed in spiritual healing and energy medicine, which she used to help her family and others see and practice the way she did. Caroline traveled to far places in pursuit of her spiritual training. She trained and practiced Shamanism with Dr. Alberto Villoldo and his wife Marcela Lobos of the Four Winds Society in Chile. This was a true highlight in her life. She was a lifelong learner, achieving Certificates in Angel Card Reading, Deep Tissue Massage, and became a certified Reiki Master/Teacher. Caroline was an avid photographer, using her creativity and perception to capture remarkable images that she shared with family and friends. Art and music were daily activities. She played the guitar and the accordion, composed songs, and designed beautiful paintings and art pieces. Most of all, Caroline was a believer in love. She loved making her house a home. She loved her children immensely as they were the light of her life. She felt love could conquer all, and she lived her life loving her husband, her children, her family at large, and the many friends she met along her journey. Although her time on this earth was cut short, her smile, laugh and personality will remain vivid memories within the hearts of her family, friends and all those she's touched over her lifetime.

In addition to her husband Bob, Caroline is survived by her two beloved children, Samuel Butler and Tiffany Butler of Enfield; her sister Nathalie Favreau and her husband Luc Albert and their children Amélie, Audrey and Alexandre of Mirabel, Québec, CA; her father-in-law, William Butler and mother-in-law Penny Butler of Farmington; four brothers-in-law, John Butler and his wife Lori of West Hartford and his children Dylan and Wyatt, William Butler, Jr. and his wife Jodi of South Burlington, VT, and their children Sierra and Jules, Tom Butler and his wife Barbie of West Hartford and their children Ava, Harrison and Lena, and Tim Butler and his wife Karly of East Granby and their children Henry and Lilly as well as more extended family and many close friends.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 12-3 p.m. at the Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor, with a memorial service to begin at 3 p.m. at the Lodge. Burial will be held privately. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Protectors of Animals, Inc., 144 Main St. Unit O, East Hartford, CT 06118 or via www.poainc.org. Bob---Seems like yesterday when you and you brothers would be in our tub after a hard day of play, with Mary doing the honors, or with Sean, Kevin, and Brian in the Butler tub with Penny supervising. But it's not yesterday, and today I share my best wishes with you and your children. I am truly saddened by your loss. A wonderful soulmate and mother. God bless. Rich Kelly, Naples FL

I am in total shock. We meet 2 years ago while volunteering at POA and we just clicked the moment we meet. Our lives were so parallel.

We would meet for breakfast, go for a walk or bike ride and discuss current events, family and health.

Caroline loved her family deeply, she enjoyed watching her children grow and reach their goals. Bobby was the love of her life, enjoyed their many trips together and was looking forward to many more family milestones.

I send you all love and light through this difficult time.
