Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2009.
Caroline Estabrook, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 4, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Bone and husband, Robert of Edgewood and Marcia Salazar of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Gayle Bone and longtime partner, Wayne Glumm of McIntosh, NM and Jay C. Moldenhauer-Salazar and wife, Sarah of Berkeley, CA; three great-grandchildren, Audri Manzer and husband, Manuel of Gila, NM and Jonah and Lily Salazar of Berkeley, CA; two great-great grandchildren, Jacob and David Manzer of Gila; sister, Dorothy Peters of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Gordon Zahm of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Estabrook in 1983 and their infant son, Stephen L. Estabrook in 1951. Caroline and her husband, Laurence, who was a Navy Chief, were posted at various places early in their marriage. On December 7, 1941, Caroline and her family witnessed and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1950, the family moved to Albuquerque. She was an avid bowler and was the head of rodeo ticket sales at the fairgrounds for over 30 years. First and foremost, Caroline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose devotion and love will always be felt. Although her physical presence will be no more, she will always be with her family in spirit, memory, and prayers, as she was always with them in life. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at Friday, May 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at French, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, followed by a reception and interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
