Caroline S. (nee Hopkins) aged 87 of Pennswood Village, Newtown, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family November 2, 2016. She was formerly from Kentmore Park, MD and Atco, NJ. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 33 years, Richard W. Hoyle, and a son, Frederic L. Hoyle. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was raised in a loving home by her parents, Hastings B. Hopkins and Ella T. Hopkins, along with her brother, F. Thomas Hopkins. She was educated at Baltimore Friends School and attended Gilford College. Much of her married life was spent as a homemaker raising 5 children, Mary Caroline Fessler (Raymond), Benjamin T. Hoyle, (Karen), Robert J. Hoyle (Heidi), Philip E. H. Hoyle (Trudi), and Frederic L. Hoyle (Pamela) and supporting each of them as they developed their special talents. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors spending many summers camping with the family. In her later years travel to Europe, Alaska, and other new and interesting places occupied her time. Board games, Duplicate Bridge, Knitting and became a passion in retirement and she often helped to knit baby blankets with her fellow Pennswood Village residents. She was an active participant in the Pennswood Village Interdenominational Worship Committee and frequently attended to the service bulletins. Her family includes 9 grandchildren and 1 step-great granddaughter, all of whom she did her best to stay attuned to their lives and careers. A private family service will be held Sunday at Swartz Givnish Funeral Home, Newtown and a memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Interment will be at the Haddonfield Friends burial Ground, Haddonfield, NJ.
