BABB, Elizabeth (Betty) Rose Madeline (Nee Allen) Although the past year was difficult for Betty, she managed to maintain her fighting spirit. On January 6, 2011, she lost her battle with cancer, just shy of her 70th birthday. Betty is survived by her four sons, Kim (Wendy), Gerry (Juanita), Richard (Brenda), and Wayne (Laurie); twelve grandchildren, Erin (Rob) Dickson, Brad (Amanda) Illingsworth, Allen Babb, Tiffany Babb, Dallas Babb, Meghan Babb, Cari-Ann Babb, Chris Babb, Matt Babb (Sammy), Michelle Babb (Scott), Ashley Babb, Stephanie Babb; and five great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Josh, Kyler, Jacob, Shila and Ryden. She is also survived by her mother, Myrtle Allen; three brothers, Jim (Sherry) Allen, Gary (Dorothy) Allen, Doug (Summer) Allen; two sisters, Edna (Jim) Mathews and Gloria Allen Russell as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her father Raymond Allen, her husband Jim Babb and grandson Tyler Babb. Betty was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 22, 1941. She married Jim Babb and worked as a nurse at the General Hospital in Calgary until 1980 when she and Jim, along with their sons, formed J. Babb & Sons Grader Services Ltd. Betty had a variety of interests including needlework, gardening and knitting although none of these compared to her love of fishing. Above all else, Betty was the matriarch of her family and she will be forever cherished and deeply missed. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Betty's name directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (Sun Life Place, 1500, 10123 - 99 Street N.W., Edmonton, AB, T5J 3H1).
