Whitby Caroline Ada Whitby (White), of Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale, PA, went home to the Lord on June 2, 2012. She formerly resided in Wescosville, PA. Ada, the daughter of the late William T. and Esther (Broughall) White was born in Philadelphia in 1916. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Reverend C. Ross Whitby, her daughter Kathryn Wilson, her sisters Margaret and Esther White, Ellen Chapman, Lydia Sands, and brother Edward White. Ada is survived by her loving daughter Ruth Ledger and her husband William of Norristown, PA., her son Thomas and wife Linda of Pittsburgh, PA., son-in-law Steven Wilson, grandsons William Ledger (Christine), David Ledger (Suzanne), Keith Ledger (Jennifer), Thomas Whitby (Cindy) and Edward Whitby (Sarah), Brent Wilson, and granddaughters Wendy Robinson (Samuel), and Jennifer Troutman (Cory). She is also survived by 11 great- grandchildren, Heather, Cody, Timothy, Douglas, James, Justin, and Andrea Ledger, Ronnie Whitby, Isabella and Sam Robinson, and Mya Troutman. Ada is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ada's father was a Methodist minister and she attended schools in various locations in southeastern Pennsylvania, graduating from the Bible Institute of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1936. She later met Ross at the Montrose Bible Conference and they were married in August 1942. As pastor and wife they served Methodist churches and raised their family in New Holland, Williamstown, Norristown, Broomall, Bustleton, Leola, and Wescosville in Pennsylvania. Ada was devoted to church activities, singing in choirs, teaching Sunday school, special needs children, nursery school, and was director of the nursery school at the Bethany United Methodist Church. She was always ready to offer a prayer and witness the Lord to others. Ada enjoyed singing and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Ada's Life Celebration on Thursday June 7 from 9:30 to 11 AM at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Wescosville. Her funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Ada's name can be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church, 1208 Brookside Rd, Wescosville, Pa 18106 or to a charity of choice.
