Carolyn Priddy Genasci

On the evening of July 7, 2022, Carolyn Genasci passed away at the age of eighty-six from complications related to heart disease. Carolyn was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a loyal family member, and a spirited friend.

She was born at home in Surry County, North Carolina on May 10, 1936, to Luke Odell and Rachel Collins Priddy. Carolyn started her life with a close-knit family only to lose her mother from heart complications at the early age of four. While the loss of her mother had a tremendous

impact on her life; the love of her father and two sisters helped her grow into the incredible woman we all knew and cared for right up to the end. It was during those years that Carolyn learned to take care of a home and garden and she often spoke of that time with great fondness and wonderful memories.

Carolyn lived in many different states during her teen years as her oldest sister Helen and brother in-law Connie Frydenlund would often send for her to come live with them. It was during the last time while Carolyn was living with Connie and Helen in Fallon, Nevada that she met the

love of her life, Bob Genasci.

As the story goes, they met in 1958 at a Father's Day gathering, got married five months later in November, and had their first child, Linda, a little over nine months later. They raised three children; Linda, Paul and Angie and were just shy of 64 years together when she passed away.

Bob and Carolyn's commitment to and love for each other was one of the greatest accomplishments of her life. Carolyn was always standing with Bob no matter what project or endeavor they attempted. Her love for him was fierce and by example she taught everyone she knew how to stand by your spouse and stand up for yourself. They were a team for nearly 64 years and her passing will be felt greatly.

Carolyn loved using her hands and her hands told the story of a life well lived. She built two houses with Bob and loved gardening, baking, crafting, crocheting afghans, and sewing, whether it was making clothes for family or sewing quilts. She rubbed the backs of her children

and grandchildren and held the hand of her husband. She was a strong woman and her hands showed it.

Besides using her hands to take care of everything and everyone, Carolyn loved the natural world and taking walks with Bob and her family. It was on these walks that she would note the birds and plants she saw, collect things like rocks, shells, pinecones and inevitably trash. There was rarely a time that Carolyn did not come back from a walk with a bag or handful of trash that she had picked up along the way. She was devoted to taking care of the world around her and her family, home, and garden showed this devotion.

When she was not homemaking, you could find Carolyn on the golf course. Bob and Carolyn were early members of Emerson Lake Golf Course when it began in the 1960s. In those first years she walked the course pulling her bag with Angie on top. Later, she won many club

championships and tournaments around the region. Carolyn loved playing golf with Bob and together they were part of the golfing family for years, including the time between 1982 -1997 when they managed the course together.

Prior to managing the golf course with Bob, Carolyn worked as an Instructional Assistant at McKinley School. She loved being around the kids and helping to make their lives better.

Throughout her life she touched the lives of countless people. We are all so grateful to have been a part of hers.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents and sister Jan Griffin. She is survived by her sister Helen Frydenlund, husband Bob Genasci, children Linda Dunn and her husband Brian Dunn, son Paul and his wife Lee Anne Stigers Genasci, daughter Angie Genasci and her husband Chris Danch, her grandchildren, and their spouses, and her many great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on August 13, 2022, at the Diamond Mountain Golf Course.
