Carolyn Lambertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 7 to Feb. 15, 2024.
Carolyn Indianapolis Raye Lambertson Carolyn Raye Lambertson, 79, Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at The Waters of Castleton in Indianapolis. She was born in Anderson, Indiana, on May 9, 1944, to Charles and Margaret (Tribe) Musgrave. On October 22, 1976, she married Frank DePaul Lambertson, Jr., and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2023.

While her children were in school, Carolyn worked in the kitchen at the elementary school in Summitville. When the town opened the Ralph E. Hazelbaker Library, Carolyn was selected to start the library with a Main Street storefront. During this period, Carolyn also pursued professional training in Library Science from Ball State University. Library usage and book circulation grew steadily and the operation quickly outgrew the storefront on Main Street. With the generous help of the Hazelbaker family and Madison County, Carolyn helped design and implement a larger, purpose-built library serving the Summitville Community and beyond. Carolyn served as a librarian over two decades and is credited with inspiring others to pursue this noble profession. Carolyn was a devout Christian and long-time member of First Baptist Church in Summitville, Indiana, with her family. She and Frank later attended the Church of God in North Webster, Indiana, during their retirement years.

Carolyn was an avid reader and loved kittens as well as bird watching. Playing cards with friends was also a favorite pastime. She was also a great seamstress and specialized in making teddy bears. Carolyn enjoyed the times fishing with her husband, Frank, and especially loved being with her family and her grandkids. The grandchildren lovingly referred to time spent with her as "Camp Grandma".

Survivors include her children, Jeff (Rebecca) Paugh, Julie (Warren) Jones, Teresa (Mike) Fite, and Tony Lambertson; grandchildren, Tylanna (Jeremy) Jones, Natasha Lambertson, TJ Lambertson, Stephen Newcom, Emily (Isaac) Denney, Victor Richardson, Gatlin Jones, Sophie Jones, Avery Paugh, and Adam Paugh; great-grandchildren, Madison Jones, Karver Jones, and Nevaeh; and sister, Elaine (Bill) Pappas.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Diane; and brother, Doug.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at North Webster Church of God, 302 N. Main St., North Webster, IN 46555.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Carolyn's life will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Todd Oesch officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Barnhill, Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ralph E. Hazelbaker Library, 1013 W. Church St., Summitville, IN 46070.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
