Carolyn Sue Martin, 74 of Abilene and formerly of Eastland, after a short, yet courageous battle with brain cancer, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Thursday August 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 28th at Edwards Funeral Home, 411 S. Mulberry St. Eastland, Tx from 5~7 p.m. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Eastland with Pastor Paul Johnston officiating.

Carolyn was born November 3, 1947 in San Angelo, Tx to A.J. and Mary Marie (Rush) Thomas. She graduated from Eastland High School and attended UTA and Draughn's Business College in Abilene. She married Ted Martin on August 20, 1966 at Mangum Baptist Church. She was a secretary for Texas Electric for 23 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Eastland and Beltway Baptist Church in Abilene, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had helped with Boy Scouts, Flag Football, Little Dribblers, a member of the Booster Club and Parks and Recreation Board. She served on numerous boards and community organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Wade Thomas and Daryl Thomas.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ted Martin of Abilene; a son, Shaun Rea Martin and wife Karen of Abilene; a daughter Shonda Cher? Wright and husband Mark of Eastland; a brother, Gary Thomas of Eastland; a sister, Wanda Baird and husband Don of Eastland; 5 grandchildren, Samantha and Austin Conger of Granbury, Morgan and Leif Johnston of Temple, Mason and Kenzie Wright of Iredell, Cash and Dylan Martin of Abilene; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Carolyn's name may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care or to Closet Angels at First Baptist Church in Eastland.
