Carolyn Matthews

MATTHEWS, Carolyn Age 70, of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly a long-time resident of the Dayton area, went to Heaven on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Carolyn was born in Gallipolis, Ohio to Freda and the late Junior Barry. Together with her husband Dr. Stanley G. Matthews, Carolyn ran the family dental practice for 40 years. She was the smiling face that greeted patients when they first arrived at the office. They moved to Hilliard in 2015 and resided at Stone Oak Retirement Community. Carolyn's greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren and her passion for flowers and gardening. In addition to her father, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Russ Mathis, Sr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Dr. Stanley G. Matthews; her children: Jason (Anne-Marie) Matthews of Philadelphia, PA, Andrea (Chris) Ellis of Hilliard and Corey (Abby) Matthews of Hilliard; her grandchildren: Daniel Hopkins, Alex Matthews, Bree Ellis, Ashton Ellis, Connor Matthews and Evan Matthews; her mother Freda Barry of Brookville, OH; siblings: Debbie Matthis of Lakeland, FL, Randy (Melody) Barry of Winter Haven, FL and Kelly Barry of Brookville, OH; and her many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law LaVerne Montgomery of Huber Heights, OH; brothers-in-law: Nelson (Joyce) Matthews of Temecula, CA and Vincent (Linda) Matthews of Dayton and their families.
