Carolyn Maxwell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 28, 2023.
Carolyn Herring Maxwell, born July 6, 1942, of Bossier City, LA, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2023 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Maxwell, and her devoted children: Michael Maxwell of Bossier City, LA, Steven Maxwell (Anna) of Benton, LA, and Becky Goldsmith (David) of Flower Mound, TX. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Christopher Maxwell, Sarah Love, Zachary Maxwell, Rachel Lagos, Bailey Rister, Cole Maxwell, Luke Rister, Chelsea Goldsmith, Cameron Goldsmith, Keith Larsen, and Kimberly Wilson, as well as her great-grandchildren: Nash Love and Andi Love and her nephew James R. Herring. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Herring, her mother, Clara Herring, and her brother, James Herring.

Carolyn dedicated her life to her family and service to others. She was a member of the Louisiana State PTA where she served as state secretary, a substitute teacher at Kerr Elementary, and was involved in various ladies' groups at Bennett Street, Airline Drive and University Churches of Christ. She had a love for children and served as a weekend relief for foster parents for Bossier Kids, Inc. and also loved working in the church nursery.

Carolyn, though very shy at her core, was the happiest when with her friends, fondly known as "the hens", and spent many happy times with them at "meeting" lunches, Pokeno and girl's trips.

A Celebration of Life service for Carolyn will be held at University Church of Christ on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Carolyn was so sweet. Her children and husband were blessed to have her in their lives. I´ve known her for over 50 years. Precious, precious lady. It was so hard to see her suffer the past few years. God´s blessings and peace to her family. I love you all!
