Carolyn Maynard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2025.
Carolyn J. Maynard, age 82, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025.

A proud graduate of Fairmont High School, Class of 1961, Carolyn began her career as a quality inspector at NCR and later retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Carolyn will be remembered by all who knew her-friends, neighbors, and family-for her kind heart, resilient spirit, and unwavering love. She offered unconditional support to those in need, always guided by her deep faith in God.

Autumn held a special place in Carolyn's heart. As the leaves began to fall, she would gather her family in the kitchen, filling the home with the sweet aroma of homemade apple fritters and the sound of laughter. These simple, joy-filled moments-arts and crafts at the table, shared stories, and gentle reminders to savor life's little blessings-became treasured family traditions and lasting lessons in love, patience, and joy.

Carolyn adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her spontaneous spirit shone during outings to local parks, where she delighted in seeing the same joy on their faces that she once saw in her own children. She often shared fond generational memories built in those cherished places.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Dorothy Engleman; her beloved husband, Frank Maynard; and her sister, Jane (Engleman) Baker.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Diane Kimura, Andrea (Steve) Ponichtera, and Joann Hummel; her stepson Kent (Sally) Maynard; her sister Victoria (Don) Twietmeyer; and brother-in-law Dan Baker. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jason Hummel, Jeff (Danielle) Ponichtera, Ashley Hummel, Emily Ponichtera, and Kyle Morrow; and great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Jamie, Levi, and Ella. Carolyn's life was also enriched by the love of her longtime friends: Alice Knob, Letty Harrison, and Dolly Schenck.

A memorial service will be held on October 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, OH 45409.
