Carolyn McCone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2025.
Carolyn Rose McCone was born on March 26, 1966 in Flint, Michigan to Rosemary and Charles Thomas of Irish and Yugoslavian descent and passed away in Linden, Michigan on March 1, 2025 at the age of 58.

She is survived by her children Charles and Tyler McCone, and her five siblings: Michael Thomas, Mary Jo Cooper, John Thomas, Bill Thomas, and Judith Thomas.

Carolyn graduated from Goodrich High School and later moved to San Francisco, CA where she met her former husband Matthew McCone, and then moved to Turlock, CA to raise their children Charlie and Tyler. She received her AA in accounting and practiced as an accountant, and later transitioned her career into energy compliance.

Throughout Carolyn's life, she was a devoted and exceptional mother - loving and championing her children through school, on the field, on stage, and into their adult lives - never missing a practice, game, concert, or anything of even mild importance. She extended her unconditional love to all those in her life, being well known to always welcome anyone in her door with a kind and listening ear, no matter the time of day or walk of life. She was relentless in treating others with dignity and respect, no matter what they were going through.

As a child and teenager, Carolyn was a superb athlete - as a softball player she was a notorious home run hitter and as a gymnast she could perform up to 10 backflips in a row. She loved Van Morrison, John Steinbeck, old Hollywood movies, and British crime dramas. She was funny and loved to laugh - a contagious, joyous riot.

Carolyn was a saint to animals and pets. She collected and tamed hoards of wild kittens throughout her life, and adopted them to many families. Her pug Trixie was one of the most special pets she ever had - and was always beside her.

Carolyn believed life was measured in how much love one gives - and she emanated love, joy, and kindness throughout her life and into the world. She made others feel seen and heard in a way few can, and brought out the best in us all.

Her impact was remarkable, and she will be dearly and deeply missed.

Memorial donations may be made to your local animal rescue and the Patient-Led Research Collaborative.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on Saturday, April 26th, at 11 a.m. at Pageo Lavender Farm in Turlock, CA. RSVP and share memories to Charlie at [email protected] or 209-620-7375.
