Carolyn Wirtel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 8, 2024.
Carolyn Sue Wirtel (1972 - 2024)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Sue Wirtel on November 29th, 2024, at the age of 52. Carolyn was born on September 9, 1972 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, to her parents Charles and Doris Dills who preceded her to heaven. She was the light and joy of the family and she is leaving a void her family cannot fill.

Carolyn was a beloved mother to her two surviving exceptional children Katelynn Wirtel and Conner Devine, the pride and joys of her life as well as her grandson Carter Gannon for whom she absolutely adored. She always said their births changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and caring she brought to their lives.

She is also survived by sister, Teresa (Richard) Sobieralski, niece Andrea (Anthony) Russo and their two children, brother Aaron Dills, nephews Adam (Kristina) Dills and their 6 children, Ryan (Cindy) Dills and their two children along with Geoff Dills and his four children.

A memorial service has been planned for January 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign War hall in Caseyville, Illinois. We ask that you keep Carol in your hearts and prayers.

In the 90s, it was the 4 of us always together. Lisa, Christy, Gene and Carolyn. We were the 4 Musketeers. Life happens, people go their separate ways, but we all stayed friends. I just can't believe she's gone. My deepest condolences to her family. She will be missed by everyone. RIP Care Care, my dear friend. Love you.
