William Southcombe Obituary

Southcombe, William Dennis "Denny" 69, of Sheridan, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Morris Community Hospital. Denny was born November 15, 1944 in Morris to George Horace and Rachel Ovilda (Hanson) Southcombe. He lived in the Norway-Seneca area all his life and attended the Milton Pope Grade School and Serena High School. He farmed and operated the Southcombe Trucking until his retirement. He married Judith (Johnson) November 28, 1968 at the Helmar Lutheran Church. He served in the Army Reserves from 1965 - 1971 and had worked at the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Joliet from 1962 - 1972. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship, the Slooper Society of America, was a board member of the Fox River Cemetery Assn. and the Cup of Cold Water Ministries. He had also served on the Fox River Lutheran Church board. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his two sons, Stephen (Laura) Southcombe of Seneca, Eric Southcombe of Seneca; his daughter, Erin (Larry) Kauffman of Seneca; seven grandchildren, Kaleigh, Tyler and Daniel Hoard, Raiden Kauffman, Stephanie and Elizabeth Southcombe and Aiden Southcombe expected very soon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6th at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd., 102 S. Johnson St., Newark, IL 60651-0623. Phone: 815-695-5131. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7th at the Crossbridge Community Church of the Nazarene in Ottawa, at the intersection of IL. Rt. 23 and Dayton Rd. Interment will be at the Fox River Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Cup of Cold Ministries, PO Box 318, Newark, IL 60541. www.dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
